Fable 160 - The Jackdaw and the Fox

There was once a jackdaw suffering from hunger who sat for ages on the branch of a fig tree. He had seen that the figs were
still green, so he decided to wait for them to ripen. A fox saw him sitting there endlessly and asked him the reason.
Upon hearing why, the fox said:
‘You’ve got it all wrong, friend. You’re just living off hope. Hope feeds illusions but not the stomach.’


This fable applies to the covetous.
